Experience the wonders of the Philippines, as the Chicago Children's Museum (CCM) features the Philippines for the first time during its "Passport to the World" series. The Museum will host displays of Philippine crafts and exhibits, as well as interactive productions by native performers and artists, during the weekend of June 12-15, 2008.

The event will include a variety of fun hand's on programs for kids, including the following:

· Creating Filipino arts and crafts
· Acting exercises with a local children's theater group
· Taste of the Philippines: free sampling of Filipino foods
· Story reading of Filipino folk tales in Tagalog and English
· Philippine native dances
· Traditional Filipino games

The CCM's "Passport to the World" series showcases the arts and traditions of Chicago's many ethnic groups to provide opportunities for museum visitors to better understand Chicago's unique multicultural community. Previous "Passport to the World" exhibits showcased Chicago's Korean, Persian and American Indian communities.

This will be the first time that the series celebrates the Philippines. The weekend celebration begins on Thursday evening, June 12, 2008. The exhibits and performances will then continue Saturday and Sunday (June 14-15).

There will be no presentation on Friday. On Thursday evening, both the Children's Museum and the opening reception are free to the public. Although there is no extra charge for the Passport to the World: Philippines event on Saturday and Sunday, attendees must pay the regular CCM entrance fee.
